Progress

Even though Trump has won the election, I believe we are about to witness an incredible groundswell of support for progressive policies. The next four years may be difficult and, at times, deeply frustrating for those of us who care about social justice, climate action, and equity. But in the cycle of history, this had to happen for the champions of logic, empathy and fairness to wake up and recognize that those things require constant vigilance and upkeep.

We will see firsthand the impact of poor policy and poor execution, and this, in turn, will energize those who want something better. We'll find common ground where we thought it was impossible, and we'll build a foundation that is stronger than it has been in decades. Progress has never been a straight path, but this setback will be part of the reason we move forward again.

Sometimes, the most enduring movements rise in response to the hardest challenges. I believe we are at the start of one of those moments. The work won't stop—if anything, it'll get louder, bolder, and more inspired. The future we want is still ours to create and the time to build it is now.
